FAQs

Q: Why sell art created by prisoners?

A: We at Cast Outs want to provide opportunities for prison inmates to express themselves through their art, sculptures, wood working, crafting, etc. Inmates receive 60% of what their creations sell for. Why is this important? Many inmates do not have the ability to earn legitimate funds while in prison, and the ones who can, do not make near enough to provide for themselves or their families. We believe that giving inmates a chance to earn their own financial well-being helps to build their confidence working in the free market, opposed to trying to make a living on the streets. We hope that their family-friendly creations will be a joy for you to display, as well a joy for them to support themselves and their families.

Q: Is this a nonprofit organization?

A: No. While our missionary work is nonprofit, that is kept separate from our business, Casting Lots.

Q: Can I refer a prisoner I know who wants to sell their art?

A: Yes. Go to the Contact Us page and let us know that you would like to refer someone.
